How and why did Brandon Allen Artist Bookings come about?

I’ve been playing the saxophone for almost 35 years.
I started on the piano at the age of 8, classical guitar from 11, and then finally picked up the saxophone at age 13.
After wanting to be a professional golfer until the age of 16/17, music finally won me over and I decided that I was going to focus all of my energy on that.
Growing up in Western Australia, with a healthy fear of sharks, my dream from a young age was to come to Europe.
I always loved the English TV shows and frequently watched foreign films.
The idea of sitting in a Parisian café, drinking a coffee, smoking a cigarette, appealed to me more than surfing while getting stalked by a great white shark!

At the age of 22, after touring around Australia for 2 years with a band called Doctor Bogus and the Wizards of Wonder (a show band of sorts),  I bought a one-way ticket and left Perth for the UK.
My plan was to spend a few months in London and then move to Paris…
I started working day jobs straight away to make some money, venturing out late at night to find live music, mainly jazz.
It wasn't long before I stumbled across some great spots and soon began jamming and meeting musicians.
After a short while I got my first paid gig! I was very encouraged by this.
Over time I started playing more, reducing my day job to only part time, and after a couple of years I made the decision to quit my job at Ray's Jazz (selling CDs/Vinyl) and make a go of it as a professional musician.

My UK visa ran out in 2003, just as things were starting to go well.
I managed to arrange a 3 month job performing on a cruise ship, departing from Amsterdam.
After spending a few days in Amsterdam I was told that the cruise ship gig was cancelled, so I ended up staying there for 6 months!
I survived by busking during the day (sometimes in the snow), teaching the saxophone and with whatever gigs I was able to pick up in the evenings.
A tough but invaluable time that really elevated my saxophone playing.
To cut a long story very short, I moved back to the UK, hit the ground running and have been here ever since.

In my 25 years of living in London I’ve been very fortunate, I've experienced a lot, many ups and downs.
I’ve performed in most European countries, the Middle East, America and Asia.
I’ve played many genres of music including jazz, blues, funk, R&B, soul, rock, pop, classical, dance, electronic, world music and more.
I’ve done session work for Film and TV.
I've been featured on numerous artistic recording projects.
Played gigs in cafes, pubs, bars & clubs.
Performed with major artists at festivals, concert halls and arenas.
I’ve played at weddings, funerals, award shows, bar mitzvahs, garden parties, corporate dinners/events, sporting events and anything else you can think of.

For my own projects I have always booked my own gigs, I never had a booking agent so I did it myself!
In 2011 I founded the Highgate Jazz with Soul Festival, directing the festival for the next 5 years.
I was in charge of sponsorship, bookings, promotion, box office, payroll and musical direction.
This was my first significant step into the world of booking and promotion.

For the last 12 years I have been the saxophonist with American jazz bassist Kyle Eastwood, recording and touring throughout Europe, Asia and the USA.
Working with Kyle's legendary manager/booking agent Ron Moss would prove to be a formative experience.

In 2023 I offered my services as a booking agent on social media, I was inundated with responses.
I've been building my network and refining my approach since then, whilst maintaining my own playing career.

Playing jazz saxophone is still my #1 passion. I love composing and arranging music also.
I enjoy collaborating with other likeminded musicians/artists.
I’ve worked with so many incredible musicians over the years, developing strong personal relationships along the way.

Brandon Allen Artist Bookings is a culmination of years of musical adventures, professional and life experiences, longstanding friendships/associations and a vision for the future.

Music is a force for good and I am very happy to be able to promote the talents of other artists as well as offering my own ambitious musical projects.
The musicians that I represent are extremely talented, ultra professional and easy to work with.
I look forward to connecting with you and creating some unforgettable musical moments.
